Networking face to face - why it is so important?



How many times have we heard that times are changing, you can do that online or just use social media? Don't get me wrong there are so many great ways to learn and improve your business; blogs, webinars, podcasts and YouTube to name just a few. But can it really replace good old fashioned face-to-face networking?

In our opinion no and here is why...

You can build deeper relationships

Connecting with people offline is a more efficient way of networking than through online channels – you can make more progress in one event than you can exchanging LinkedIn messages over a period of weeks. Talking face-to-face allows you to receive immediate feedback on what you say; this helps iron out potential misunderstandings quickly as you can read the body language of the other person.

Real life conversations show you to feed off each other’s energy, giving you the opportunity to gain common ground via shared experiences. Communication in person means you can demonstrate your personality, ultimately cultivating a genuine relationship built on trust in a way that digital conversations just can’t match.


It is good for you

We have all become a slave to screen time and our social skills have become weakened without us even realising. This makes it more difficult for us to hold conversations. Ensuring our communication skills are as good as they can be will make a real difference,  – getting out of the office to network improves your chances of advancing your ideas and goals.


To keep up-to-date with trends

When in a room with a number of people from your industry, you will get talking about what has been happening as of late. This provides a great opportunity to hear what trends are occurring, and areas in which others have been focusing on. It is also a great chance to understand the trends of your target market if you are attending for business growth purposes.

Sharing ideas

Networking is all about sharing of ideas, information, best practices, and lessons learned. Networking provides great opportunities for you to learn from others and to lend a helping hand to people you meet. Most people want to offer help, and you never know what assistance you may have for others. Having a support network in your business career is essential. Effective networking will build and maintain a strong support system.

We could not agree more with this. People should be able to connect with each other, discuss unique thoughts and ideas - this is why we created ITC.

Remember ITC is a relaxed event. Be yourself, have fun, and get inspired. ITC attendees are a big family who say that face to face connection is invaluable.
